The Crime Investigation Department (CID) of West Bengal Police has safely rescued a minor girl who was abducted from the Government Police Station area under Barasat Police District of North 24 Parganas.
The police have caught both the kidnappers from Darad in Gujarat. Both are residents of Jharkhand.
The accused arrested on Monday have been identified as Zarar Khan (26) and Mohammad Chand Shaikh (23). Both are residents of Rajmahal police station area of Sahibganj district. Both had kept the girl imprisoned in Darad. The girl has been handed over to the parents.
According to CID, a case has been registered against the accused under sections 363, 365, and 366A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Section 363 deals with kidnapping, section 365 deals with kidnapping or abducting with intent to secretly and wrongfully confine a person, and section 366A deals with the procurement of a minor girl for the purpose of forced marriage.
On March 20, the girl's father filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the government police station, stating that his daughter had left home but did not return. Subsequently, the family started receiving ransom calls and threats were made regarding harm to the girl. These circumstances led to the registration of the case against the accused. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is likely involved in the investigation.
