Manik Bhattacharya's arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) took place on October 11 of the previous year. Subsequently, his wife and son were also arrested in connection with the same case
Manik Bhattacharya, the former chairman of the Primary Education Council and a central figure in the well-known teacher appointment corruption case in West Bengal, was once again presented in Bankshall Court on Thursday.
During the proceedings, he categorically denied recognizing the expelled Trinamool Congress leaders, Kuntal Ghosh and Shantanu Banerjee, who were also arrested in connection with the same case. The three individuals have been accused of corruption related to the recruitment of primary teachers.
However, Manik Bhattacharya, who was ousted as the chairman of the Board of Primary Education, claimed that he had no knowledge of Kuntal Ghosh or Shantanu Banerjee. When reporters questioned him, he stated that he had no acquaintance with either of them and emphasized that they did not know him either. Trinamool MLA from Palashipada, Manik, was brought to Bankshall Court on Thursday to face the charges.

In a significant development, Justice Abhijit Ganguly of the Calcutta High Court has ordered the confiscation of Manik's assets, both within the country and abroad.
