Kolkata metro to be extended till Hooghly's Chuchura? Here's what Railway minister says
The recent decision by the Calcutta High Court to cancel the jobs of 36,000 primary school teachers in West Bengal has caused widespread concern and criticism. The affected teachers, who had been appointed in 2018 and 2019, have been left unemployed and facing mental health issues.
In response to the ruling, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee held a press conference to address the issue. She stated that her government would appeal the decision in the Division Bench, and expressed sympathy for those affected by the ruling. Banerjee also acknowledged the continuing problem of joblessness in West Bengal, but emphasized that her government had created numerous job opportunities in the state.
Banerjee also emphasized her commitment to transparency and integrity in the hiring process, stating that she would not tolerate corruption or illegal activities. She also criticized the central government for closing the 100-day work program, which had been a significant source of employment in the state.
During the press conference, Banerjee also announced that her government would provide an additional 3 percent DA (dearness allowance) to state employees, acknowledging the challenges faced by many people due to rising inflation. Banerjee also used the opportunity to appeal to voters in Karnataka, urging them not to vote for the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) in the upcoming elections.
