Bidhannagar Cyber Crime Police arrests Prakash Subramaniam in Chennai for allegedly holding a cryptocurrency account used in a fake call center scam that cheated foreign nationals
The police discovered that the money used to defraud the victims was transferred to Kolkata through crypto currency
This follows the arrest of Sheikh Musaib Rahman from the Kolkata Police area, who allegedly had his cryptocurrency account hacked and used for the scam
Bidhannagar Cyber Crime Police has made an arrest in connection with the operation of fake call centers that cheat foreign nationals and receive payments in the form of cryptocurrency.
The police have arrested Prakash Subramaniam, the account holder of the cryptocurrency, from Chennai. In August 2021, Bidhannagar Cybercrime Police raided a fake call center located in Matrix Tower, Salt Lake Sector Five, and arrested seven people. The police investigation revealed that the money used to cheat foreign nationals was transferred through cryptocurrency.
The police also previously arrested Sheikh Musaib Rahman from the Kolkata Police area, who initially opened the cryptocurrency account, but the password and transaction information was changed using another email ID and phone number.
The investigation led to the arrest of Prakash Subramaniam.
