CBI seizes Sameer Wankhede's phone and makes startling allegations in Aryan Khan drugs case FIR

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against former Mumbai Zone Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) head, Sameer Wankhede, in connection with the Aryan Khan drugs case. The FIR alleges that Wankhede concealed information about his foreign trips and buying expensive watches.

The CBI has accused Wankhede of not properly explaining his foreign trips and mis-declaring the expenditure on them. It has also been alleged that he did not declare the source of his foreign visits properly. Furthermore, he was found to have indulged in the sale and purchase of expensive wristwatches with a private entity, Viral Rajan, without intimating the department.

The CBI has also seized Wankhede's mobile phone and sent it to a forensic lab to retrieve data. A team of experts has been formed specifically for this purpose. According to sources, Wankhede is accused of engaging in the buying and selling of expensive watches without disclosing this information. He also allegedly concealed details of his expenses during his foreign trips.

The FIR also mentions K.P. Gosavi, who appeared as an NCB official and was responsible for Aryan Khan's arrest. It is alleged that Gosavi presented himself as an NCB officer, but he was actually an independent witness. The CBI has mentioned that Gosavi planned to extort Rs 25 crores from Aryan Khan's family. The case was settled at Rs 8 crores, of which Rs 50 lakhs was initially taken but later returned due to the case getting stuck.

Wankhede has responded to the CBI raids and allegations by saying, "I am getting rewarded for being a patriot. 18 CBI officials raided my residence and searched for more than 12 hours while my wife and children were present in the house. Another team of seven CBI officers also raided my in-laws. Both my in-laws are old. In their search at my residence, they found ₹23,000 and four property papers. These assets were acquired before I joined the service."

The Aryan Khan drugs case has been a high-profile one, with the arrest of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan's son and several others for alleged drug use. The case has sparked a nationwide debate on drug use in Bollywood and the NCB's methods of investigation.
