Union Cabinet approves 'One Nation, One Election' Bill: Reports
A headmaster of a school in Nadia district of West Bengal, India, has made headlines for changing his name from Girindranath Das to Girindranath Banerjee, citing his admiration for Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Girindranath Das claims that he sees the Chief Minister as equivalent to a Muni-Rishi, and therefore changed his name as a sign of his devotion.
This is not the first time that Girindranath Das has stirred controversy. In the past, he printed the Chief Minister's picture in a textbook, leading to protests from some students and their parents. However, Girindranath Das defended his actions, arguing that the Chief Minister is running the whole state, and therefore her picture should be included in educational materials.
Girindranath Das' recent name change has attracted attention and sparked debates across the state. When asked about his reasons for the change, he praised the Chief Minister for her numerous schemes, such as Kanyashree, Yuvashree, and Roopashree, which he says have benefited many people in the state. He also predicts that the Chief Minister will become the Prime Minister of India in the future.
While some have criticized Girindranath Das for his actions, others have praised him for his devotion to the Chief Minister.
