Dhumanganj police have arrested eight people for cheating a man and threatening him in the name of slain gangster politician Atiq Ahmed. Police said a criminal complaint has been filed against the man and further investigations are underway.
Vikas Bakshi hailing from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, Guas Nagar area of Karelia filed a complaint against a public welfare worker named Kailash Kishor Mishra posted in Karchan and his other family members including his mother Shyama Devi and father Ayodhya Prasad and brother Gulshan Mishra.
The others who were booked were identified as Farmood, aseem Haldhar, Amar Singh and Jai Prakash Mishra.
Bakshi, who filed the complaint, claimed that Kailash showed him a plot in the Kalindipuram area and sold it to him for Rs 12,000 in 2017, later when Bakshi started construction in the area in 2022, the Prayagraj Development Authority demolished the wall and informed him that the land is on government owned land.
When Bakshi met Kailash later in May last year, the conman was present with his other associates and threatened Bakshi with a firearm and forced him to speak to Atiq Ahmed over the phone. The person talking on the phone claimed to be Ahmed and threatened Bakshi to obey Kailash's orders or he should be prepared to face dire consequences.
Vikas Bakshi said that after the threats and now the murder of Atiq Ahmed, he could come forward to file a complaint. Dhumganj Police, Station House Officer (SHO), Rajesh Kumar Maurya said that action will be taken after investigation.
