A tragic incident occurred in Chandipur, a town located in the East Medinipur district of West Bengal, where a young man lost his life after being hit by a car allegedly belonging to the convoy of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shubhendu Adhikari.

The incident took place on Thursday night at around 10:00 pm when the victim, identified as 33-year-old Sheikh Israfeel, was crossing the National Highway near a petrol pump.

According to District Superintendent of Police Amarnath K, an investigation is currently underway to determine the exact circumstances of the accident. While it is being claimed that the car involved in the accident was part of Shubhendu Adhikari's convoy, the police are yet to confirm this information. He stated that the police team has gone to the spot, and people have protested the incident, but they have been pacified by persuasion.

The incident has sparked outrage among the local residents, who allege that the car was travelling at a very high speed and fled the scene after hitting the victim. Following the incident, people blocked National Highway No. 116, which leads to Digha, for over an hour, demanding justice for the victim.

As per sources, the car involved in the accident is a bulletproof vehicle, and Shubhendu Adhikari allegedly runs two and a half kilometers ahead of his convoy. However, no comments or statements have been made by the BJP leader or any other party leaders in connection with the incident.
