The Calcutta High Court has expressed strong displeasure over the police officers who have allegedly ignored court orders in various cases.
Despite repeated instructions from the court, the trend of non-compliance by the police seems to be increasing, and one in every three cases is accused of disobeying police orders. Recently, the judge received a complaint against the Canning police station, leading him to order the Baruipur SP to take action against the IC.
Justice Rajashekhar Mantha of the High Court has warned that strict action will be taken against the police if they continue to ignore court orders. He has directed the Director General of State Police to issue guidelines in this regard and alert the Superintendent of Police of each district. He has also warned that if any police officer disobeys a court order, departmental action will be taken against them.
Justice Mantha has expressed his anger over the police officers' disregard for court orders and has called it a major obstacle in delivering justice. The judge has also noted that similar complaints against the police have been coming from different districts every day, and this trend of non-compliance cannot be tolerated. In his comments on the matter, he has warned that such heinousness of the police will not be tolerated in court.
In response to the situation, Justice Mantha has ordered the DG of State Police to take immediate action and issue guidelines to the SPs of every district. The judge's concern is that the obstruction of justice by the police will continue unless immediate action is taken. He has called for the police to respect the court's orders and comply with them promptly. If the police continue to ignore court orders, the High Court will be forced to take strict action against them.
