Over 7 lakh voters removed, 10.78 lakh added in final voter list for Bengal 2025
BJP leader Vijay Krishna Daului was allegedly murdered in Moyna of East Medinipur district on Monday evening, causing panic in the area.
The BJP released details of the incident on Tuesday morning, claiming that Daului was stopped while returning home and beaten in front of his wife before being taken away by several Trinamool leaders on bikes. The party alleged that Daului was killed and his body was thrown some distance from his house.
In response to the incident, activists led by BJP MLA Ashok Dinda surrounded the police station in Moyna to protest. Dinda accused Sangram Dolui, a former Trinamool MLA from Moyna, of involvement in the murder. However, Dolui has not yet responded to these allegations, and the Trinamool Congress has not made any statements regarding the incident. The police have also remained silent.
This incident follows a spate of violence in West Bengal after the announcement of the state's election results on May 2, 2021. More than 60 BJP workers were reportedly killed in this violence. The BJP is observing May 2 as a Black Day to mark the anniversary of the election results.
