West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has urged people to vote in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections, despite the imminent panchayat elections in the state. Speaking on the occasion of Eid, Banerjee emphasized the importance of democracy and urged people to fight unitedly against attempts to divide the country.

During her speech before Eid Namaz, Banerjee launched a scathing attack on the BJP and demanded that the party be ousted from the Centre. She accused the BJP of wanting to change the constitution and history, and of attempting to divide the country. Banerjee also claimed that the Trinamool government in the state is fighting against the BJP and central agencies, but emphasized that she is not afraid to fight.

Banerjee also spoke about the Bilkis Bano rape case, in which all accused have been acquitted. She pledged to continue fighting for justice for Bano and urged people to go to court if necessary. Banerjee also gave a message that she will not allow the implementation of the NRC.
