Mukul Roy's unannounced trip to Delhi sparks speculation in Bengal politics

Senior West Bengal Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mukul Roy has caused a stir in the political landscape after his son lodged a complaint about his disappearance on Monday.

However, it has now come to light that Roy had travelled to Delhi without informing anyone, causing confusion and concern amongst his family and colleagues.

Roy, a prominent figure in West Bengal politics, had left TMC in 2019 to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He played a significant role in BJP's success in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, in which the party won 18 out of 40 seats in Bengal. However, in the 2021 assembly elections, BJP suffered a significant defeat in the state, while Roy was elected as an MLA from the Krishna Nagar North seat.

Roy's son, Shubhranshu, had filed a complaint with Kolkata Airport Police officials after being unaware of his father's whereabouts. However, it has been revealed that Roy had not gone missing but had instead travelled to Delhi without informing anyone.
