The Border Security Force (BSF) has announced a cash reward for anyone providing information about gold smuggling along the India-Bangladesh border.
The BSF South Bengal border officials have asked local people to give information about gold smuggling areas and have issued a number for people to contact, promising to keep the identity of the informer confidential.
Recently, there has been an increase in gold smuggling on the India-Bangladesh border, and many of those caught are unemployed youth who engage in smuggling for money.
According to BSF officials, the increasing demand for gold due to people trying to convert black money into white is one reason for the rise in smuggling.
