Mercury to drop 3 degrees in Bengal in next 2 days, says MeT
On Tuesday, an incident of stone pelting occurred in the Hooghly district of West Bengal, targeting the Vande Bharat Express. This comes just four days after a similar incident in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
According to sources, the incident took place between the Belmuri railway gate and Dhaniyakhali halt station, resulting in broken window panes. It is suspected that a student, dressed in a school uniform, may have carried out the attack.
Upon receiving information about the incident, State Police and Railway Police immediately reached the scene and began questioning individuals. Authorities have also reportedly begun inquiring in local schools.
Railway Police officials are currently questioning several individuals in connection with the incident, including a teacher at the Belmuri Lower Primary School. The teacher, Chanchal Kumar Basurai, shared that police officials arrived at the school around 8:30 am and inquired about the school's start time and uniform policy.
Reports suggest that children in school uniforms were responsible for pelting stones at the train. The incident has raised concerns about the safety and security of passengers traveling on Indian railways.
