West Bengal BJP leader and former MLA Jitendra Tiwari got a major relief from the Calcutta High Court on Monday. The Calcutta High Court on Monday granted him bail on a personal bond of Rs 50,000.
Jitendra Tiwari was arrested on March 18. After being in police custody for some time, Jitendra Tiwari is placed in the Presidency Jail. On Monday, 22 days after his arrest, a bench of Justice Jaymalya Bagchi and Justice Parthasarathy Sen granted him conditional bail.
An FIR has been lodged against BJP leader Jitender Tiwari in connection with the death of five people in a stampede during an area distribution program organized in Asansol last December. Based on this, the Asansol Police arrested him from Noida.
On Monday, while ordering bail, the Supreme Court bench said that BJP leader Jitendra Tiwari will not be allowed to enter the Asansol area. After this incident, the police said that no permission to hold the program was taken from them. The matter went to court. The police questioned Jitendra Tiwari and his wife several times. Meanwhile, the court refused to grant him protection from arrest. Later, the police arrested him from Noida.
After his arrest, Jitendra Tiwari accused the state government of implicating him and said he was harassed because of his association with the BJP. TMC people understand that if they get victory after keeping him in jail then it will not fulfill their dream.
