The Kolkata Municipal Corporation has rolled back its decision to increase parking fees following complaints from the public. The decision to increase parking fees was made after many years and had recently sparked protests by the National Congress.
Abhishek Banerjee, a member of the Trinamool Congress and Mamata Banerjee's nephew, received numerous complaints regarding the increase in parking fees and spoke to the chief minister about the issue. As a result, CM Mamata Banerjee ordered the decision to be withdrawn on Friday evening.
While Trinamool Congress spokesperson Kunal Ghosh stated that Abhishek Banerjee received complaints regarding the parking fee increase,
Firhad Hakim, the chairman of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation has not publicly commented on the issue. In response to the news, he said, "It is not right to say so in the media. I will take it back if I get instructions from the Chief Minister."
