Tragedy struck the Hospital Para area of Sheetalkuchi in Coochbehar district on Friday morning, when a young man attacked the family of his girlfriend with a knife, resulting in the deaths of her mother and a Trinamool Panchayat member.
The accused has been identified as Vibhuti Roy, who was in a relationship with Iti Burman, the daughter of the deceased Neelima Burman, a member of Shitalakuchi Gram Panchayat. It is alleged that Vibhuti entered the Burman family's home and began attacking them with a sharp weapon, resulting in the deaths of Neelima's husband, Bimal Chandra Burman, and his sister. Iti and her sister were also injured in the attack.
Upon hearing the commotion, neighbors rushed to the Burman residence and discovered the family members lying in a bloody state. They immediately rushed them to Mathabhanga Hospital, where Neelima and Bimal were declared dead, and Iti's sister succumbed to her injuries after starting treatment. Iti remains hospitalized and is in critical condition.
The incident has caused shock and outrage in the community, with many expressing their condolences to the Burman family and demanding justice for the victims. The police have arrested Vibhuti and launched an investigation into the incident.
