Mamata expresses displeasure over KMC's parking hike announcement, asks immediate withdrawal

After Kolkata Municipal Corporation had increased the car parking fees in the city significantly from April 1, 2023, resentment was seen among the people of Kolkata. The issue of car parking fees has reached Trinamool Congress supremo and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The CM is said to have expressed anger with the increase in car parking fees and has ordered Mayor Firhad Hakim to cancel the order and withdraw the increased fees immediately.

Earlier, TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said in this regard on Friday, “Our leadership has observed that the cost of parking in municipal corporation areas has increased significantly leading to common people having to pay a lot of money."

This matter also came to the notice of the party's National General Secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee. He spoke to CM and said, “The aim of this government is not to put pressure on the common people. After the year 2011, he has not done such work, due to which there is pressure. Mamata Banerjee has a clear decision that this has happened without her approval."

It is said that the information has reached to the mayor of the metropolis that the decision taken should be cancelled. This information is expected be given today so that there is no pressure on the people.
