SC halts mosque survey orders, restricts lower courts in pending cases
Police arrested 12 individuals and detained several others in connection with the violent aftermath of an attack on a procession in Rishra, a town located in the Hooghly district of West Bengal.
Following the incident, Section 144, a law that prohibits the assembly of more than four people, was imposed in Rishra and Mahesh areas, while officials implemented a patrol to maintain the situation's peace.
Additionally, the administration suspended internet services in the area until 10 pm on Monday, and residents have been instructed to avoid leaving their homes unnecessarily.
On Sunday, violent clashes took place during a procession, leading to the closure of local shops and the evening market. However, on Monday, the situation remained calm, and traffic resumed on the roads after officials thoroughly checked every vehicle on the way to Rishra from Shrirampur via Mahesh.
