In a shocking incident that has come to light, a Trinamool Congress panchayat member has been accused of raping a housewife in West Gram Panchayat of Mathurapur in South 24 Parganas. The victim and her family have lodged a complaint against the accused, identified as Bappaditya Halder, at the Mathurapur police station.
According to the victim's family and the people of the locality, Halder had called the victim's husband in the name of getting a house under the housing scheme, and had asked for necessary documents to be submitted. Later, Halder had gone to the victim's house to collect the documents, where he allegedly forced himself on the woman. The victim was alone in the house at the time of the incident.
Upon her husband's return, the victim confided in him about the traumatic experience. Following this, the family members of the victim lodged a written complaint against Halder at the Mathurapur police station. The police have since initiated an investigation into the matter.
