The Central Investigation Agency has been accused of attempting to implicate Abhishek Banerjee, the All India General Secretary of Trinamool Congress, in the Sarada Narada case. The allegation surfaced after Trinamool youth leader Kuntal Ghosh, who was arrested on charges of recruitment corruption, made an explosive statement on Thursday ahead of his court appearance.
The statement was prompted by Banerjee's speech at Shaheed Minar the previous day, where he claimed that the investigating agency was seeking to name him in the case. Ghosh was asked about Banerjee's statement and the arrest without evidence before appearing in the Bankshall Court on Thursday.
Despite his arrest, Ghosh has been described as confident and his words are said to be working like "oxygen". According to analysts, his words prove that Banerjee's statement was intended to embolden the Trinamool Congress cadre. Ghosh stated, "The meaning of Abhishek Banerjee's saying is to broaden our chest. The agencies are trying to extract the names of the leaders from us by various threats." The investigation into the Sarada Narada case continues.
