Two BJP legislators being investigated for misbehaving in Patna

Two BJP MLCs have come under fire for allegedly misbehaving with two persons, including a woman, in the last 24 hours. One of the victims reportedly died of a heart attack.

One Priti Jha, who runs a dhaba under Sachivalaya police station in the state capital, accused supporters of BJP MLC Nawal Kishore Yadav of demanding free non-vegetarian food from her and also assaulting her for not complying. The woman, who hails from Samastipur, started her hotel business at a place allegedly provided by Yadav after her husband fell terminally ill.

"I am forced to vacate the space given to me by the BJP leader, though I am paying the rent on time," the woman told on Sunday, adding that her complaint was not attended to by the concerned police station. When asked for a comment, the Sachivalaya police station in charge said that he has not received any complaint in this regard so far.

Describing the allegations as a pack of lies, Yadav said he was not even aware of the matter. "If I myself live in a government-provided neighbourhood, how can I rent it to someone?" he asked.

The new development comes close to another such incident in the Gopalganj district where a local villager Purushottam Singh died of a heart attack after he was allegedly manhandled by another BJP MLC, Rajiv Singh alias Gappu Singh and his supporters. The family members of the victim claimed that Singh died after the BJP leader hurled abuse at him.

They alleged that Purushottam was supervising construction work on the plot on Saturday when the BJP leader arrived there along with his supporters and hurled abuse at him. Purushottam suffered shock and was immediately rushed to a local hospital where he was declared brought dead. Police have registered a case against four persons, including a BJP MLC.
