An eight-year-old girl was allegedly shot dead in Bhelai village under Udwantnagar police station in Bhojpur district on Friday evening. The deceased has been identified as Aaradhya Singh. "The case appears to be suspicious and investigation into the incident is on to find out the reason behind the murder," Bhojpur SP Pramod Kumar said.
The SP told on Saturday that no bloodstain was found at the scene. "The camera system installed in the house was closed and was activated after seeing the police. An FSL team has been called and investigations are underway to identify the accused," he said.
At 4 am, the police were informed that Aaradhya was shot in the shoulder and later died. A police team led by a trainee DSP reached the spot within five minutes and started an investigation. The family members of the deceased told the police that the incident took place on Friday at 8.30 pm, but did not inform the police.
When the girl was taken to a private hospital, the doctors asked them to report the incident to the police first. However, the family members brought the injured girl home and after midnight, the girl was taken to Sadar Hospital, Ara, where doctors declared her brought dead. After her death, they informed the police this morning.
