A woman allegedly murdered her six-year-old daughter and ten-year-old son with the help of her lover and dumped the bodies in a canal in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut, police said on Saturday.
According to the police, the woman's neighbours were also involved in the crime, which took place on Wednesday. Six people were detained for their alleged involvement in the crime. The bodies of the children have not yet been recovered.
“On March 22, two siblings, a ten-year-old boy and a six-year-old girl, were murdered and their bodies were thrown into a canal by their mother and her lover, namely Saud, who is a local councillor, along with the help of their neighbours. When the children went missing, a case was registered and the conspiracy was uncovered during the investigation,” Superintendent of Police (City) Piyush Singh was quoted.
Police have launched an investigation into the case to uncover more details.
“Three women and three men are implicated in the murders. The girl was killed in her own house and the boy was killed in a neighbour’s house. The bodies of the children have not yet been found. All the accused have been arrested,” the SP added.
