Speeding bus mows down pedestrian at MG Road more, driver flee
The Sadar police on Monday arrested two Jharkhand residents with 2.7 kg of opium.
The accused have been identified as Anil Kumar and Roshan Kumar Sharma (both aged 32) of Utta village in Jharkhand and were arrested on Thareeke Street. Police officers were patrolling the area when the accused were found sitting outside a vacant plot. They tried to run when they saw the police. The police stopped them and confiscated the opium from the bag.
Inspector Gurpreet Singh, SHO, of Sadar police station, said that poppy is grown in some forest areas of Jharkhand. The duo was in contact with a person who grew poppies used to make opium. The accused are unemployed and started dealing drugs a few years ago. They were taking opium from the man and smuggling it to different counties and states.
The inspector said the accused was travelling by train to smuggle contraband. The police nominated the man who supplied them with opium.
