The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday arrested one Md Irshad Alam of East Champaran District from Phulwarisharif area of Patna.
The NIA on Sunday said the arrest was made with the help of the Bihar Police as part of its crackdown on the banned Popular Front of India (PFI) in connection with the Phulwarisharif terror module case.
"The NIA found that despite the ban on PFI imposed on September 27 last year, its leaders/cadres continued to propagate the ideology of violent extremism and also procure arms and ammunition to commit crimes," the agency said in a statement.
Alam, the 13th accused, was arrested in connection with a case registered in July 2022 when four persons from Phulwarisharif area were nabbed just before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Patna. The Patna police filed an FIR alleging that they gathered in the Phulwarisharif area for training to carry out terrorist acts and violence. The case was later taken over by the NIA.
