Youth dies after alleged beating at South Garia drug rehab, family vandalizes centre in protest
One person was killed while more than 15 people were trapped under the debris of a cold storage building that collapsed at Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal district on Thursday.
Rescue and relief is being carried out by the administration along with National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams. Rescue work will continue through the night.
The incident occurred around 12:00 noon when the roof of the building collapsed. Eight people have been rescued so far, and the body of the rescuers was pulled from the wreckage.
Moradabad DGP Shalabh Mathur told that the SP and DM reached the spot immediately after receiving the information. "It is feared that 15-30 workers are trapped under the debris," he said.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has asked officials to carry out immediate relief and rescue work.
"In view of the cold storage accident in Chandausi Sambhal district, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed district administration officials, SDRF and NDRF teams to carry out immediate relief and rescue work by reaching the spot," the CM's office said on Twitter.
