A new CCTV footage related to the Umesh Pal murder case in Prayagraj surfaced on Thursday, showing gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed's son chasing Umesh Pal in an alley. Umesh Pal and his two police officers were shot dead on February 24 outside his house in Dhoomanganj.
Pal was the only key witness in the Raju Pal murder case. The clip, which runs for 32 seconds, also shows a crude bomb exploding near the shooter. According to reports, police will continue their investigation based on the new video.
Atiq and his brother Ashraf were charged in connection with the murder. Currently lodged in a Gujarat jail, Atiq is the main accused in the 2005 murder of BSP legislator Raju Pal.
An FIR was registered at Dhoomanganj police station in Prayagraj on the complaint of Umesh Pal's wife. Uttar Pradesh Police has announced a cash reward of Rs 25,000 for information leading to the arrest of Atiq Ahmed's wife Shaista Parveen.
