Man shoots wife, daughter dead over viral video in UP

In a sensational double murder in Chitrakoot on Monday, a man allegedly shot his minor daughter after seeing her with a man in a social media video.

Trying to save the girl, her mother came and was hit by a bullet. The man fired another bullet that hit the girl. While the mother died on the spot, the daughter succumbed to her injuries at the district hospital.

The incident took place in a village falling under Bahil Purwa police station limits. Police said Nandkishore Tripathi (40) lives in the village along with his wife Pramila (36) and two daughters aged 16 and 13.

His elder daughter Abha (name changed) had gone to her maternal uncle's house and returned a few days ago. On Monday, the father-daughter duo got into an argument over a video of Abha with a man on social media. Enraged by this, Nandkishore fired a handgun at Abha. Seeing this, Pramila stepped in to save her, she was hit by a bullet and died on the spot. Enraged, Nandkishore fired another shot, hitting Abha, who fell to the ground.

Neighbours rallied and sent the mother-daughter duo to the district hospital where Pramila was declared brought dead while Abha succumbed during treatment.

According to Additional SP Chitrakoot, Chakrapani Tripathi, a case has been filed against the accused under Section 302 of the IPC, while he is absconding. "There was some tension between father and daughter which is being investigated. Police teams have been sent to nab him. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem," he added.
