SC halts mosque survey orders, restricts lower courts in pending cases
A team of Tandwa police on Sunday arrested four suspected Communist Party of India (Maoist) ultras from Deggarha forest area. All were associates of wanted Maoist commander Manohar Ganjhu.
The arrested ultras were identified as Sulendra Ganjhu, Parmeshwar Ganjhu, Sudhan aka Ajit Karmali and Kuldip Ganjhu.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Rakesh Ranjan on Sunday received a tip-off about a group of Maoists moving in the Tandwa areas of Chatra and Balumath in Latehar. Manohar Ganjhu aka Dinesh Ganjhu was also said to be present in the area.
A team led by Tandwa Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Shambhu Kumar Singh and Tandwa Police Station Officer Vijay Kumar Singh raided Humbi and Deggarha forest in Tandwa and nabbed four ultras. But Manohar managed to escape.
The four arrested ultras are being interrogated, SP Ranjan added. SDPO Singh said two bicycles, party literature and mobile phones were seized from the arrested.
