Stampede at Pushpa 2 premiere kills woman, leaves her 2 kids critical
RJD leader and former railway minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife and former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi and their daughter Misa Bharti were granted bail by a Delhi court on Wednesday in connection with a case related to the alleged land for employment case.
Bail was granted on a personal surety of Rs 50,000 and one surety in like sum. The case relates to alleged railway appointments in exchange for land gifted or sold to Lalu Prasad's family when he was railway minister from 2004 to 2009.
Yadav, 74, who recently underwent a kidney transplant and was in a wheelchair, arrived at the Rouse Avenue court around 10 a.m. but proceedings were delayed. The family appeared before Special Judge Geetanjali Goel around 11:00 am.
In its charge sheet, the CBI alleged that there were irregular appointments in the railways, which violated the Indian Railways' set norms and procedures for recruitment. It alleged that in return, the candidates directly or through their immediate relatives and family members sold the land to the family members of RJD Prasad chief, the then Railway Minister, at highly discounted rates up to one-fifth of the prevailing market rates.
Special Judge Goel issued summons to the accused, including Prasad's daughter Misa Bharti, on February 27 and directed them to appear in court on March 15.
