SC halts mosque survey orders, restricts lower courts in pending cases
A 45-year-old man allegedly raped his minor daughter after drugging her in Kaimur district on Sunday evening. The accused was arrested on Tuesday morning and sent to jail. Her mother was a partner in crime.
In her statement, the victim's mother admitted that she helped her husband commit the crime after he promised to buy her gold jewellery. She was also arrested and will be sent to jail on Wednesday, the SHO of the local police station said.
The victim went to the local police station with her mother and filed a complaint against her father on Monday. The man has been booked under Section 376 (f) of the IPC and relevant sections of the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act. According to her statement, the incident happened late Sunday night after her parents fed her cannabis-laced sweets and her father raped her while she was drunk.
After the incident, the accused locked the door of the house from outside and fled on Monday morning. A 16-year-old rape survivor woke up on Monday afternoon and raised the alarm from the roof of the house. With the help of neighbours, she informed the police about the incident. After the complaint was registered, the girl was sent for a medical examination to the district hospital under the supervision of a female police officer.
Mohania SDPO Faiz Ahmad Khan said the accused was arrested late on Monday evening and sent to jail. "He has a criminal record. There are seven to eight cases registered against him. He went to jail in 2004 in a rape case. He was also accused in an Arms Act and Prohibition Act case," he told on Tuesday.
