A delegation of five members representing the Sangamri Joint Platform has finally reached the Raj Bhavan after their agitation. The team includes Vipul Roy, Deepal Biswas, Srivas Tewar, Swapan Biswas, and Bhaskar Ghosh as their leader. One of the agitators appeared in a wheelchair.
This meeting with Governor CV Ananda Bose comes after he urged the protesting state government employees to lift the strike and come to a peaceful solution. The Governor said all the stakeholders should sit together and resolve the matter in an acceptable way to everyone.
The Sangamri Joint Platform demanded fair rates of DA, qualified appointments of candidates, and temporary workers. They also seek a direct meeting with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to address these concerns.
The ongoing strike by the employees is happening for the first time after Mamata Banerjee assumed her office in 2011. In January 2009, the last of such a strike was seen when protests were held in the state during the Left Front’s regime.
