Speeding bus mows down pedestrian at MG Road more, driver flee
Passengers traveling on the Sealdah Main Line have been facing difficulties since Saturday morning due to the repair of the non-interlocking system between the Naihati and Kalyani stations. As a result, several trains have been canceled and most of the remaining trains are running behind schedule, causing inconvenience to the passengers. The repair work had been announced earlier and some commuters had already experienced issues on Friday night.
Many passengers reported that almost every train was running late by 20-25 minutes, and some trains were standing at stations for long periods. The cancellation of many local trains has led to an increase in crowds and further problems for passengers who are unable to reach their destinations on time. The non-interlocking work will continue until next Tuesday, potentially causing further disruptions to train services.
The construction of a third line and automatic signaling system between Naihati and Kalyani stations has resulted in the cancellation of 25 pairs of local trains on Sunday, 26 pairs on Monday, and 25 pairs on Tuesday. The Chief Public Relations Officer of Eastern Railway, Kaushik Mitra, has acknowledged the difficulties faced by passengers and explained that the non-interlocking work was scheduled during the secondary and higher secondary school exams to minimize disruption.
Mitra has assured the public that the railway authorities are aware of the complaints and are looking into the matter. The cancellation of trains and re-routing of long-distance trains through Dankuni has been communicated through the media, but it is still expected to cause inconvenience for passengers until the completion of the repair work.
