No more bus racing, overtaking in Kolkata! new tracking technology introduced
On Saturday at around 7:45 am, a young man jumped into the Ganga river from the middle area of the second Hooghly bridge (Vidyasagar Setu) after leaving his bike on the side of the bridge. Police personnel on duty at Vidyasagar Setu were notified and the Disaster Response Force was called.
Despite their efforts to convince the young man to reconsider, he threatened everyone and proceeded to jump into the Ganga. Eyewitnesses reported that the incident occurred on the Howrah-Kolkata plank.
The young man, identified as Mohammad Arif Ansari from the Kankurgachi area of Kolkata, was unresponsive to attempts to persuade him otherwise. The reason behind his decision to take his own life is yet to be determined.
The Disaster Response Force is currently searching the Ganga for the young man, while his family members have been informed about the incident.
