Speeding bus mows down pedestrian at MG Road more, driver flee
Tamil Nadu Director General of Police C Sylendra Babu said on Thursday that so far 11 FIRs have been filed and three arrested in connection with the spread of fake news about attacks on migrant workers in the state.
Teams of TN Police are camping in Bhopal, Patna and other places to arrest the remaining accused, he said. “A few went into hiding while some approached the court seeking anticipatory bail. The state police is keeping a close eye on the matter,” the Tamil Nadu
DGP said, adding that the police in collaboration with the cyber crime police will identify those spreading fake videos unrelated to the state and the motives behind the acts.
The TN DGP emphasized that the panic and confusion among migrant workers in the state due to rumors and fake reports of attacks has subsided. He interacted with the workers in Coimbatore.
“The state police, with the help of various stakeholders, including employers of migrant workers, dealt with the unrest sparked by the spread of the fake videos. We could see the situation returning to normal and the panic among the migrant workforce subsiding. However, the employers and the police have been told to stay in touch with the workers for their grievances, if any,” said Babu.
Steps are being taken to install CCTV cameras and conduct frequent patrolling in the areas where the workers live, he said.
