SC halts mosque survey orders, restricts lower courts in pending cases
A 35-year-old daily wager was allegedly beaten to death in Bihar's Bhagalpur district on Wednesday, officials said.
A lone breadwinner and a resident of Baluwachak, the deceased is survived by his wife and two children. Police found the body lying near a railway track near Puraini area near Bhagalpur district in Bihar.
Angry locals blocked the Hansdiha-Bhagalpur road to protest the killing and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits.
After police intervention, the locals relented and the body was sent for postmortem. Police confirmed the death and said the man had been beheaded after being brutally beaten. The incident may have happened on Tuesday, police claimed.
“The incident appears to have occurred in a group clash following the consumption of alcohol,” said a police officer on condition of anonymity, adding that investigations were ongoing.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anand Kumar said, “A police team led by the law and order DSP has started an investigation into the murder from all possible angles.”
