Begusarai man burned alive as bike catches fire

A 26-year-old man was burnt alive while sitting on a bike that collided with a mini truck and caught fire in Begusarai district on Sunday night. The man was charred as the bike turned into a ball of flame, and the fire was so intense that he didn't seem to have time to react.

Police had to call in firefighters to extinguish the raging flames before pulling his body from the charred remains of the bike. The accident took place on NH-28 near Barauni Zero-Mile under Barauni Police Station area. Barauni SHO Rajnish Kumar said the body was burnt beyond recognition. “The fire was still raging when a police patrol arrived at the scene and called the fire brigade.

However, police found the bike's license plate on Monday morning, which helped identify the victim. The deceased has been identified as Sanjit Kumar, a resident of Amba village under Teghra police station area of Begusarai district,” he said.

Sanjit's father Nago Tanti said his son got married only three months ago. “At the time of the accident, he was going to his in-laws' house in Mosadpur village under Barauni Refinery police station. Sanjit was working as a laborer in Gurugram and returned home on Saturday,” he said.
