Speeding bus mows down pedestrian at MG Road more, driver flee
A 15-year-old boy was crushed to death by a JCB near Mahesh Babu Chowk under Brahmapura police station in Muzaffarpur district on Sunday morning. Enraged by the incident, local residents stopped traffic, attacked the police team, vandalized its vehicle and beat passers-by by laying the body on the road.
Muzaffarpur SSP Rakesh Kumar said the accused has been arrested. “The incident took place when a JCB vehicle engaged in some work in the smart city hit the boy,” he said, adding that the local residents raised a ruckus after the incident. However, the situation was immediately brought under control and the body was sent to SKMCH for an autopsy.
The deceased was identified as Mohd Tabarak, a resident of Mai Sthan in Juran Chhapra. The incident took place around 10 am when the boy was returning from the coaching center. It was hit from behind by a JCB city body. The driver fled the scene and abandoned the vehicle. Locals rushed the boy to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
After the incident, relatives and local residents raised a ruckus near Mahesh Babu Chowk. They blocked the road, demanding compensation for the bereaved family and action against the accused. The police pacified them and secured the vehicle. Anil Kumar Gupta, SHO of Brahmapura police station, told that the accused driver, identified as Sanjay Paswan, has been arrested. “The JCB vehicle belongs to the municipal body. The police are investigating the matter further,” he said.
