Acting on a tip-off about drug peddlers diverting a consignment of brown sugar to customers, Superintendent of Police Rakesh Ranjan of Chatra formed a team to raid the playground and arrested four.
The raid was carried out in Ramsinsa village under Sadar police station. Police officer Avinash Kumar confirmed the arrest and recovery of 2.15 grams of brown sugar, a pistol, an empty cartridge, two bikes and five mobile phones.
Kumar said, after alerting SP Chatra, a team formed under Sadar Police Station Commander Manohar Karmali. The team arrived in the village of Ramsella on Friday, exactly when four salesmen arrived there to deliver brown sugar.
The four have been identified as Rahul Kumar, Badal Kumar, Chandan Kumar and Mohammad Akram. All are Chatra residents, Kumar said.
In addition to 2.15 grams of brown sugar, the police also found a 7.6 mm pistol, an empty bullet, two bicycles and four mobile phones. Kumar said they were arrested after interrogation and the four were sent to Chatra jail.
