Mamata calls urgent meeting at Nabanna tomorrow, key administrative officials to attend
In a major operation against the interstate liquor mafia, the police today arrested two and seized a huge quantity of fake liquor goods. The action came on the basis of a tip received by SP Rakesh Ranjan.
In this operation, the police arrested two members of the gang along with goods used in the large-scale production of fake poisonous English liquor.
A special team formed under Itkhori police station in-charge of Niranjan Mishra picked up the goods from a passenger bus named Vijay Rath coming from Kolkata during vehicle inspection. The inspection was conducted near Bhurkunda forest on Itkhori-Chatra main road. Among the goods recovered were holograms, cap caps, Royal Stag and MC Devils barcodes and two fake electronic notes alongside the bicycle used in the smuggling.
A police official said smugglers hatched a conspiracy to supply fake liquor in Bihar and other states during Holi by giving genuine stickers, barcodes and caps. They said the SP's accurate information foiled the smugglers' plan.
DSP Kedarnath Ram Command confirmed the recovery followed by the arrest. The arrested duo are identified as Laxman Dangi and Jitendra Kumar Dangi, both residents of Pitij village.
