Two men decamp with jewellery worth Rs 15 lakh in Patna

Two persons posing as customers took gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 15 crore from a jewelery shop in Meethapur in the state capital on Thursday afternoon.

Police said the incident took place around 12 noon at Shubh Lakshmi Jewelery Shop in Jakkanpur Police Station area when two men came on the pretext of buying jewelery and looted expensive gold and silver items. The owner of the shop, Shishir Gupta, said in a statement to the police that two people arrived at his shop in a hurry.

“One of the two bought a silver coin and asked the shopkeeper to show the gold earrings. Then the two engaged the shop owner and his staff in conversation,” Jakkanpur police station SHO Sudama Singh said.

“After paying a silver coin deposit, one of the robbers asked to show a gold chain. When the shop owner brought a box of gold chains in front of them, they asked for the pillow he had behind him. When he turned to take the pillow, they both left the shop with a box of gold chains and fled on their scooters towards Yarpur,” said Singh.
