Newborn's body found in cargo at Lucknow Airport

On Tuesday morning, a routine screening of cargo at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow led to the discovery of a newborn’s body inside a parcel. The body, believed to be that of a one-month-old infant, was packed inside a plastic box and detected by staff during a routine X-ray scan. The parcel had been checked in for shipment through a courier service and was being processed for delivery.

The courier agent, Shivbaran Yadav, was immediately detained by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) after the discovery. During questioning, Yadav explained that the parcel had been sent by Chandan Yadav, an employee at an IVF center in Indira Nagar, Lucknow. According to the courier, the body was intended to be sent to Mumbai for medical testing following a miscarriage, but Yadav could not provide any documents or permits required for the shipment of such sensitive items.

Airport officials confirmed that the necessary documentation, which is legally required for transporting human remains, was absent. The airport’s cargo processing team detained the parcel due to this lack of documentation. The absence of the appropriate paperwork raised questions about the shipment’s legitimacy, and airport authorities emphasized the importance of following regulations for the transportation of sensitive cargo, especially human remains.

The parcel, which was addressed to Rupa Solitaire in Kopar Khairane, Navi Mumbai, was part of a larger shipment being processed at the airport. The lack of necessary documentation, including medical or legal permits, led to an immediate halt in the shipping process and further investigation by authorities. The authorities are focusing on the role of the courier, the IVF center, and the person who arranged the shipment.

Following the discovery, the airport police initiated a detailed investigation into the incident. The courier agent, Shivbaran Yadav, was handed over to the police for further questioning. Authorities are working to verify the details of the shipment, including how the body was being transported, the individuals involved, and whether the shipment followed proper legal procedures for handling such sensitive cargo.

In addition to the ongoing investigation, CISF personnel are reviewing the airport’s cargo handling and screening procedures to ensure future compliance with safety and legal regulations. The investigation is continuing, and authorities are seeking to clarify the circumstances surrounding the shipment of the newborn’s body.
