Kejriwal accuses BJP of targeting AAP’s women welfare schemes amid Delhi Polls

In a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal alleged that the saffron party is deliberately undermining AAP’s Mahila Samman Yojana through a “baseless investigation.” Kejriwal made these remarks during a press conference, accusing the BJP of fearing the public support his party’s welfare schemes have garnered ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections.

Under the Mahila Samman Yojana, AAP promises financial assistance of ₹2,100 to women, while the Sanjeevani Yojana offers free healthcare for elderly citizens above 60 years. According to Kejriwal, these initiatives have attracted lakhs of registrations, worrying BJP leaders about potential electoral losses. He claimed several BJP members admitted privately that AAP’s success could jeopardize BJP’s chances in many constituencies.

Kejriwal also accused the BJP of using intimidation tactics, including deploying thugs and police to disrupt AAP’s registration camps. He further alleged that the BJP has now resorted to politically motivated investigations to discredit the schemes. "They are scared because they know their deposit could be forfeited in several areas," Kejriwal asserted.

The BJP Mahila Morcha staged protests near Kejriwal’s residence, accusing AAP of deceiving Delhi’s women with false promises. The demonstrators, led by BJP leader Richa Pandey, clashed with the police as they attempted to breach barricades, chanting slogans against Kejriwal and AAP’s policies.

Despite the protests, Kejriwal remained firm, stating that his government is committed to fulfilling its election promises. He criticized BJP’s alleged plans to roll back AAP’s popular initiatives like free bus travel for women, free electricity and water, and mohalla clinics. "They are not targeting me; they are targeting the welfare of the people," Kejriwal said.

The upcoming Delhi Assembly elections are shaping into a fierce battle between the two parties, with welfare schemes becoming a focal point. Kejriwal has framed the BJP’s actions as an attempt to sabotage public welfare, reiterating that AAP will continue its work for the people despite opposition hurdles.
