Starting Saturday, 36 metro services will be reduced on the Howrah Maidan to Mahakaran route due to ongoing construction work between Sealdah and Esplanade. As a result, there will be a total of 114 metro services operational from Monday to Saturday, as opposed to the current 150 services. These changes will specifically impact the stretch between Howrah Maidan and Mahakaran, while services on Sundays will remain unchanged.
Currently, there are two tunnels in operation between Howrah Maidan and Dharamtala, one heading east and the other west. Due to construction work on the eastward tunnel, services are being limited to the section between Howrah Maidan and Mahakaran. The westward tunnel will continue to operate without any interruptions. As a result, the reduction in services will primarily affect the section between Howrah Maidan and Mahakaran.
The revised schedule will see the first metro train from Howrah Maidan towards Mahakaran depart at 9:08 AM, with the last train leaving at 7:58 PM. On the reverse route from Mahakaran to Howrah Maidan, the first metro will depart at 9:20 AM, and the last train will leave at 8:08 PM. These timings are subject to the ongoing construction work and are expected to remain in place for the duration of the work.
Passengers should note that the schedule will remain unchanged on Sundays, with services running as usual. The metro authorities have urged commuters to stay informed and check for updates regularly to avoid any inconvenience caused by the ongoing construction work.
