Thailand announces e-visa for Indians from Jan 1, 60-day exemption to continue
The Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended two Bangladeshi nationals for illegal fishing inside Indian waters near Border Outpost (BOP) Kakmarichar in Murshidabad district. The BSF's 73rd battalion took swift action on October 2, catching the accused while patrolling along the Padma River, roughly one kilometer inside the international border.
According to the official statement released by the BSF on Thursday, jawans spotted four Bangladeshi nationals operating two engine-fitted boats in Indian waters. When challenged, two of the individuals fled toward Bangladeshi territory. However, the BSF managed to capture the remaining two individuals, along with one of the boats.
The arrested individuals, identified as Manik Uddin and Muffazul Sheikh from Chok Muktarpur in Rajshahi district, Bangladesh, confessed during interrogation that they had deliberately crossed into Indian territory to fish.
The arrested men, along with the seized boat, were brought to BOP Kakmarichar. Both Bangladeshi nationals have been handed over to Sagarpara Police Station for further legal proceedings.
BSF South Bengal Frontier DIG N.K. Pandey commended the alertness and swift action of the BSF personnel, emphasizing that the force remains vigilant to curb illegal activities along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
