Darjeeling zoo first in India to house both Siberian and White tigers
In a crucial development regarding the misleading advertisements case against Patanjali Ayurved, the Supreme Court raised questions about the size and prominence of the apology issued by the company in newspapers today. Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi, representing Patanjali founders Ramdev and Balkrishna, informed the court that a fresh set of apologies had been filed.
The bench asked why the apologies were filed yesterday and that it should have been done earlier. Mr Rohatgi said the apology was published in 67 newspapers at a cost of ₹ 10 lakh.
"Has the apology been published prominently? Same font and size as your earlier advertisements?" Justice Hima Kohli asked. When Mr Rohatgi said the company had spent lakhs, the court replied, "We are not bothered."
The Court has adjourned the matter for a week after Ramdev committed to publishing a more substantial apology in newspapers.
Hours prior to the Supreme Court hearing, Patanjali Ayurved preemptively issued an apology in national dailies, stating its profound respect for the court and vowing not to repeat past mistakes.
