Five soldiers killed, five injured after vehicle plunges into gorge
On December 22, 2024, several members of the Osmania University Joint Action Committee (JAC) stormed the residence of Telugu film star Allu Arjun in Hyderabad’s Jubilee Hills. The group damaged property in the actor’s home, including destroying flower pots, while demanding a compensation of Rs 1 crore for the family of a woman who died in a stampede during the premiere of "Pushpa 2: The Rule."
The stampede occurred on December 4 at a cinema hall in Hyderabad, where Allu Arjun was present for the movie’s premiere. The incident resulted in the tragic death of 35-year-old Revathi, with her eight-year-old son also injured in the chaos. Following the incident, members of the Osmania University panel staged a protest, holding the actor accountable and demanding financial compensation for the victim’s family.
The situation escalated when a group of JAC leaders attempted to force their way into Allu Arjun’s home. However, police arrived at the scene and swiftly arrested eight individuals involved in the attack. The suspects were later taken to the Jubilee Hills Police Station.
The attack took place when Allu Arjun was not at home. In a video that surfaced online, the protesters could be seen causing significant damage to the actor’s property, further escalating tensions.
This incident follows a series of allegations against Allu Arjun regarding the stampede. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy accused the actor of attending the screening at Sandhya Theatre despite a police ban on his presence, a charge that Allu Arjun denied. The actor has since addressed the media, condemning the false allegations, calling them a character assassination. He emphasized that the claims made against him were wrong and misleading.
Earlier, Allu Arjun had been arrested by the Hyderabad police in connection with the stampede but was granted interim bail by the Telangana High Court. A case was filed against the actor, his security team, and the theatre management under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code.
